Once You have registered and have been approved by the auction house you will be bound by these terms and conditions:
Viewing
Prospective bidders / buyers are invited and advised to view the goods or property offered on auction one day prior to the auction.
Viewing of Items are Strictly on An Appointment Basis
Registration
All prospective Bidders / Buyers must register prior to the Auction and such registration requires proof of identity and residence (FICA). A refundable deposit may be payable by Debit / Credit card or electronic fund transfer (EFT) the deposit amount varies from Auction to Auction If Required. On registration every bidder understands and agrees to the conditions of sale and will be issued with a buyer’s number.
Paying and Collecting your Purchase
After the Auction is Closed your Invoice will be send to you for Payment. After payment is made and the Money is Reflecting in Our Account, you will be allowed to collect your purchase.

Conditions Of Sale
- Buyers Commission is Charged at 15% of the Hammer Price.
- Bid of R100 + Commission (15%) = R115 Payable in Total.
- All Invoices Must be paid in full within 48Hrs after receiving your Invoice.
- The highest accepted bidder shall be the purchaser.
- The onus is on the bidder to make themselves aware of the condition of the lots they are bidding on as all goods are sold “Voetstoots” and “As Is” and are therefore non-refundable on any grounds.
- Certain Lots described may note some damage or defects, however the absence of such information doesn’t imply that there is no damage or defects.
- The Auctioneer has the right to regulate the bidding. He may furthermore withdraw any item at any time.
- The Auctioneer does not hold himself responsible for any errors in description.
- All goods are sold as is, without warranties.
- Lots once knocked down remain at risk of the purchaser.
- If the Highest bid is lower than the reserve price, the lot will not be sold and may be withdrawn by the Auctioneer.
- No goods may be removed until paid for in full.
- Terms: EFT, Direct cash deposit, Credit or Debit card. No cash or cheques will be accepted. Cash handling fee of 1.5% will apply for direct cash deposits and 2.5% for credit or debit cards. No bank charges will apply for EFT payments.
- Some Auctions may require a deposit to register. In case there was no purchase, the deposit will be refunded in the following day after the Auction takes place. Bids from unregistered bidders cannot be accepted.
- All bids are exclusive of buyers commission and VAT (Only Where Mentioned and applicable).
- All sales are final.
- The Auctioneer reserves the right to bid on behalf of third parties, vendors & absentee bidders. In case of a reserve price, the Auctioneer reserves the right to allow a vendor to bid , until the reserve price is reached.
- Any buyer or BUYERS, who defaults in terms of payment, will forfeit their deposit if applicable and will be banned from attending further auctions within our network and will be liable to pay for legal charges, to recover all incurred costs. Therefore please do not bid if you do not have the funds.
Selling Items
- The below instructions shall apply to all items (goods) consigned, unless otherwise specified in writing
- The seller, by its signature Acknowledge that all the Items assigned to Grove Auctioneers are His/Her lawful property and are free of any liens and encumbrances and Authorizes Grove Auctioneers to sell the property on any Auction with no reserve, unless such reserve price is stipulated in writing and accepted and agreed upon by Grove Auctioneers.
- The commission are agreed upon as | 15% Delivered | 20% Collected | Collection Fee if Applicable.
- The agreed commission will be deducted from the hammer price and the amount owed (hammer price less commission) will be paid into the bank account provided above within 14 (fourteen) days provided that the buyer of the said item paid for the item purchased. If the buyer didn’t pay for the item, the sale will be cancelled and the item will be Re-Auctioned or the seller will be asked to collect the unsold item
- Additional charges may be levied for restoration / repair costs by Grove Auctioneers
- There shall NOT be reserve prices on goods valued and determined at less than R1000 by Grove Auctioneers in their sole and absolute discretion
- Grove Auctioneers shall have the right to accept a bid of 10% below any reserve price placed on any goods by the seller
- Only goods where a Reserve Price has been Placed and is agreed upon by the Auctioneer (Alexander Grove) will be sold with a reserve. if the above condition have not been met, there shall be no reserve price on any of the goods presented on the auction
- Unsold items shall be collected by the seller at his/her own expense within 14 (fourteen) days after notified by Grove Auctioneers. If not collected it will be sold at no reserve price to the highest bidder at the discretion of Grove Auctioneers to recover Storage and Handling cost incurred.
- There shall be no variation or changes of the Pre-Sale Instruction / Agreement unless in writing and signed and agreed to by Grove Auctioneers.
- The Seller shall be bound to the above pre-sale instruction / agreement as well as Grove Auctioneers General Terms and Conditions Attached / Displayed at our premises / on our website and acknowledge their acquaintance with the contents thereof
- All Goods delivered to Grove Auctioneers and/or Sold by Grove Auctioneers shall be subject to these Pre-Sale Instructions / Agreement as well as the General Terms and Conditions and have hereby been brought under the attention of the Client / Seller.
- Grove Auctioneers may at its sole and absolute discretion elect if an item is suitable for sale at all and may unilaterally elect the time, date and place of the sale. Grove Auctioneers may withdraw any Item / Lot from any auction at any time at its sole and absolute discretion without providing any reasons
- Grove Auctioneers may accept, reject or return any items for auction at its sole and absolute discretion
- Grove Auctioneers or its Employees accepts no responsibility in respect of any damage to any goods
- Grove Auctioneers Decisions are final and binding
- All Items / Goods listed on the “Annexure A” attached forms part of this agreement and is Identified as Items Consigned to Grove Auctioneers to be placed on Auction.
